Military History Requirement

There are a number of courses at Rutgers that satisfy the military history requirement. You need to take only ONE of these courses (or a substitute approved by the PMS). A 200 level or higher course, with a grade of C or higher, is needed to fulfill the requirement.

ArmyIgnitED

ArmyIgnitED is a virtual portal that provides access to education programs and services for eligible Army soldiers, cadets, and civilians. It offers a variety of services, including: 

  • Tuition Assistance (TA): Soldiers can request TA for classroom and online learning courses 

  • Credentialing Assistance (CA): Soldiers can use CA to pursue industry-recognized professional and technical credentials 

  • Education record management: Soldiers can manage their education records 

  • Civilian education: Civilians can access education, training, and leader development events 

ArmyIgnitED automates many of the paper-based processes that were previously conducted in person at Army Education Centers. It also provides a role-based user interface that's easy to use and doesn't require specialized training. 
 

Army Publishing Directorate (APD)

The Army Publishing Directorate (APD) supports readiness as the Army’s centralized publications and forms management organization. APD authenticates, publishes, indexes, and manages Department of the Army publications and forms to ensure that Army policy is current and can be developed or revised quickly. APD also provides content management services, manages procurement of printed and electronic media products to HQDA customers.

They are provided as selected works that can help soldiers,  Department  of  the  Army  civilians,  and anyone  interested  in  the  Army  to  learn  more  about  the  Army  profession  and  to  sharpen  their  knowledge  of  the  Army’s  long and distinguished history, as well as the decisive roleplayed by landpower in conflicts across the centuries.
