CPT Gabriel Velazquez hails from Allentown, Pennsylvania, commissioning as a second lieutenant from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania as a Field Artillery Officer in 2018. Following completing the Basic Officers Leaders Course, CPT Velazquez was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 25th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He served as an Infantry Company Fire Support Officer for the 2nd Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment from 2018-2019. During this time, he was deployed to the South West Border Mission for 6 months, with 3-89 CAV, in Fort Bliss. 

While assigned to 5-25 FAR, CPT Velazquez was a Battery Fire Direction Officer supporting SFAB rotations, JRTC, and multiple Field Artillery Tables. He then PCSd to Camp Casey, South Korea, in 2020. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 38th Field Artillery Regiment, 210 Field Artillery Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division. There, he served as the Assistant Operations Officer and a Battery Executive Officer supporting the Ready Battery Mission for the South Korean Peninsula. 

CPT Velazquez graduated from the Field Artillery Captain’s Course in May 2022. He then PCSd to JBLM, serving as the 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment’s Battalion Fire Support Officer with a rotation to South Korea. In May 2023, CPT Velazquez took command of Charlie Battery, 2nd Battalion 17th Field Artillery Regiment. C BTRY CDR Captain Velazquez deployed his Battery to Thailand to support I Corps’ Cobra Gold & Hanuman Guardian mission. CPT Velazquez arrived at the Scarlet Knight Battalion in November 2024.  

CPT Velazquez’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal 2 Bronze Oak Leaf, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War Terrorism Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal 1 Bronze Star, Army Service Ribbon, Army Overseas Service Ribbon 1 Numeral, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge Gold.
